This study was part of a larger project, directed by the University of Ottawa. Their research team in implementing FORT into 5 cancer clinics in Canada (Ottawa, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador).
Fear of cancer recurrence is the fear or worry that cancer may come back or progress. This is a common problem among cancer survivors, that is often untreated. FORT is a cognitive-existential group therapy that has been shown to relieve these symptoms in cancer survivors.
Phase I of this project involved identifying the most effective way to implement FORT into Eastern Health, as well as to identify any potential barriers, required resources, or training.
This study recruited decision makers, managers, or clinicians at the Eastern Health Cancer Care Centre who were involved in the care of patients with breast, gynecological or hematological cancer. Participation involved a 30-60 minute interview with a member of the University of Ottawa Research team.
